Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re a parent feeling overwhelmed by the uncertainty of your child’s eating disorder journey, or a professional looking for guidance in supporting families more effectively, it’s natural to have questions. This page is here to help clarify what I offer, how we might work together, and what to expect. If something you’re wondering about isn’t answered here, please don’t hesitate to reach out — I’m always happy to connect.

I offer consultation and coaching for parents and caregivers who are facing the overwhelming experience of supporting a child or young adult through an eating disorder. Whether you’re unsure where to begin, feeling isolated in the process, or simply needing guidance and reassurance, I’m here to help. Together, we focus on understanding your family’s needs, clarifying next steps, and building confidence in your role. I also provide professional consultation, training, and presentations for clinicians or teams seeking to strengthen their family-focused care.

No, the support I offer is not therapy or treatment. These consultations are meant to supplement—not replace—the work your child or loved one may be doing in treatment. My goal is to walk alongside you as a knowledgeable and compassionate guide, helping you make informed decisions, feel less alone, and more empowered as a caregiver. While I am a licensed psychologist, I’m working here in a consultative capacity to share insights, strategies, and support based on years of experience in eating disorder care.

Consultations are structured, goal-oriented conversations that focus on providing information, perspective, and strategies based on clinical best practices. Unlike therapy, consultations are not an ongoing treatment relationship or covered under insurance. They are designed to clarify options, help you feel more grounded, and offer actionable guidance.

My work is a good fit for:

  • Parents or caregivers who feel unsure or overwhelmed about how to support a loved one with an eating disorder
  • Families who want to supplement treatment with additional coaching or insight
  • Clinicians and/or Providers who are seeking consultation, supervision, or additional training in family-based approaches

Yes — I’d be happy to connect. If you’re interested in getting started, please send an inquiry through my website. From there, I’ll provide you with the brief forms needed to schedule your initial consultation. It’s a simple process, and I’m here to walk you through each step.

My services are focused on supporting the caregivers and providers, not treating the identified patient. I believe strongly in collaborative care, so I’m happy to coordinate with treatment teams (with consent), but I do not provide direct clinical services to individuals in treatment.

I operate as a private-pay practice. Payment is required at the time of scheduling, and the process is secure, simple, and designed to be as hassle-free as possible so you can focus on getting the support you need.

While I’m not a placement specialist, I can help you understand what level of care or support may be most appropriate, and how to advocate effectively for your child or family. I often work alongside families as they consider or transition between levels of care and providers.

Yes to both. Some families or professionals benefit from a single, in-depth session. Others prefer more ongoing support over a series of consultations. We can discuss what structure might work best based on your goals.

While the majority of my work centers around eating disorder recovery, especially in children and adolescents, I also consult on broader parenting and family support concerns, particularly in cases involving anxiety, treatment transitions, or emotional dysregulation.

Most consultations are held virtually through a secure video platform, allowing me to work with families and professionals across the country. In-person meetings may be possible in the Austin, Texas area — we can talk about whether that might be a good option depending on your needs and location.
